The latest advice from the Government - Thursday 5 November 2020

The Government are introducing further restriction to try and control the spread of the virus. From Thursday 5 November until Wednesday 2 December these are a brief summary of the main changes:

• You are required to stay at home. You must not leave your home except for:
  • childcare or education
  • where your place of work remains open and where you cannot work from home
  • exercise outdoors with the people you live with, your support bubble or, when on your own, with 1 person from another household.
  • any medical concerns, reasons, appointments and emergencies, or to avoid or escape risk of injury or harm - such as domestic abuse
  • shopping for basic necessities
  • to visit members of your support bubble or provide care for vulnerable people, or as a volunteer
• Everyone who can work effectively from home must now do so. All staff working in essential services should continue to attend their workplace and strictly follow all IPC regulations in place.
• You must not meet socially indoors with family or friends unless they are part of your household or your support bubble. You can exercise or visit outdoor public places with the people you live with, your support bubble or one person from another household.
• Certain businesses and venues will close. This includes all non-essential retail, indoor and outdoor leisure facilities, entertainment venues and personal care facilities.
• Schools, colleges and universities remain open. This includes early years settings.
• You should avoid travelling in or out of your local area and reduce the number of journeys you make.            Overnight stays and holidays away from your primary residences will not be allowed.

Household waste recycling centres (HWRC):   Updated 15 May 2020

Household Waste Recycling Centres (HWRCs) are now open for essential use, you will need to book a slot before visiting.

KCC, together with the district and borough authorities, urge residents to protect themselves from illegal waste carriers who often target householders with cheap rates to take their rubbish away.

If you want to dispose of waste, consider using a reputable skip hire company or HIPPO bag supplier who can also supply you with a waste transfer note to evidence where your waste will be disposed of.

Swale Borough Council have released the following brown bin collection update:

“We’re incredibly grateful for people’s understanding of the cancellation of our garden waste service last week.  This helped our contractors focus on making sure that general waste, recycling and food waste bins are being collected.

Following the pause in garden waste collections, we are now looking to reinstate the brown bin service from Tuesday 7 April.

Unfortunately we will not be able to catch up on the brown bins that have been missed up to this point, and we will be starting fresh on the usual schedule from Tuesday (7 April 2020). The fortnight that has been missed will be added to the end of your current subscription.

We would appreciate it if people could share this message with friends and neighbours who use the service but may not see this update.

We will continue to prioritise general waste, recycling and food waste, so there may continue to be disruptions to garden waste collections, but if you leave your bin out we will try to collect it as soon as possible. The crews will work hard to try and deliver the brown bin service over the coming weeks, and there will be a number of new employees to help with this task, so please bear with us if the service is intermittent.

Coronavirus scammers gain entry to houses

Scammers who are claiming to be NHS workers and offering “coronavirus testing kits” are operating in the Herne Bay area, Kent County Council has warned.  The authority has advised residents to be vigilant after receiving reports of two people wearing suits gaining access to properties.  One of them distracts the home owner, while the other person breaks through the rear door.

Hartlip Parish Council Chairman, Councillor Graham Addicott warns residents to be cautious.

Childrens Play Area, Munns Lane: CLOSED   (NOW OPEN FROM 4TH JULY 2020)

The Government advice is that children should no longer go to playgrounds.  The virus can linger on the equipment and so children and subsequently adults can be put at risk.  Children/parents are being advised to avoid high-touch equipment such as that found in a playground.  The Recreation Ground field remains open but residents are advised to follow government guidelines on social distancing and hygiene.

Hartlip Parish Council WhatsApp groups:

Hartlip Parish Council has set up a Covid-19 WhatsApp group to assist those residents who use social media.  Hartlip Parish Council asks that residents use its Neighbourhood Watch WhatsApp purely for Neighbourhood Watch and its Covid-19 WhatsApp purely for Covid-19 matters so that responses, where necessary can be efficient.

Fraud Avoidance:

Sadly there are people looking to capitalise on this difficult situation.  TAKE CARE.

In some parts of the country reports of bogus shoppers have been received.  These people are knocking on doors and offering to shop for people.  They take the shopping list and cash and vanish.  There are also reports of people knocking on doors to “sell” phoney Covid-19 testing kits.
